The bright future we were promised — finally built.
A self-running outpost needs an always-on machine intelligence. That intelligence needs power. And on Mars — with three to twenty-two minutes of light-lag each way — no human can run a fusion plant, so the plant needs the intelligence too. Fusion powers the compute; the compute runs the fusion. It is the only energy topology that closes off-world.
We don’t claim fusion beats solar in sunlit orbit. It doesn’t. Our case is the surface — where a single dust storm cuts sunlight 80 to 90 percent for months, where the night is real, and where the load never sleeps. And we publish what the data refuses as readily as what it supports.

In 1965 the United States flew a nuclear reactor called SNAP‑10A and made electricity in orbit. It ran for forty‑three days, and then a voltage regulator — not the reactor — switched it off. The Atomic Age set space fission down and did not pick it back up.
We were founded three years earlier, in 1962, to take the idea past low Earth orbit. Then we took a break. A long one. We are back. The reactor was never the hard part — the part that failed was the part that was meant to be watching it. We have spent the years since thinking mostly about that part.
